Tomorrow on our podcast and pateron you can hear our fun conversations- One Planet, one food, one ship!
Qo'noS was located in the Qo'noS system and had one moon, Praxis. The system was in Sector 70 (the Qo'noS sector) in block 27, the Omega Leonis sector block, in the Beta Quadrant.
The exact coordinates of the planet were 43.89.26.05 in grid 09, quad 68, block 27, sector 70.
Omega Leonis is a real star in the constellation Leo, located 112 light years away from Earth.
The location of the Klingon homeworld in relation to Sol and other stars was depicted on a star chart. According to The Worlds of the Federation, the planet was located at coordinates -321.5, 48.6, -87.9. The grid, quad, block, sector designation system used in a display readout of a portable transwarp beaming device in Star Trek Into Darkness was introduced in the Star Trek Star Charts reference book (pp. 14-17)
What are the compass directions on Qo'noS?

The Caves of Kahless were a subterranean complex of chambers located in the northern polar region of Qo'noS. Named after Kahless, traditional observances of the Day of Honor were held in these caves.
The Hamar Mountains were a mountain range on Qo'noS. Straddling the equator, it was located south of the Mekro'vak region and Kang's Summit.
It was traditional that the Var'Hama candles used in a Klingon wedding were made from targs captured and sacrificed at dawn in the Hamar Mountains.
Kang's Summit was a mountain located in the northern hemisphere of Qo'noS, just north of the First City. It was known for its population of saber bear.
The Ketha lowlands were a generally impoverished region of Ketha Province on Qo'noS.
General Martok's family hailed from the Ketha lowlands. (DS9: "Once More Unto the Breach")
In 2375, Martok expressed his belief that the High Council would not accept him as Chancellor for being a common man from the lowlands. Worf believed that Martok's reverence by the troops would force the Council to accept him.
The Kri'stak volcano was a mountain on Qo'noS, near the Lake of Lusor.
According to legend, Kahless the Unforgettable forged the first bat'leth (the Sword of Kahless) after thrusting a lock of his hair into a river of lava from the volcano's summit, then plunging the burning hair into the Lake of Lusor, and, finally, as it cooled, twisting the hair into a sword.
No'Mat, or the Caves of No'Mat, was a location in the southern hemisphere of the planet Qo'noS. This icy mountainous location was known for its lava caves. These caves played a role in the Rite of MajQa wherein a young Klingon while meditating would experience a vision. This vision, or hallucination depending upon one's interpretation, might play a role in the Klingon's future. (TNG: "Birthright, Part I", "Rightful Heir"; DS9: "The Sword of Kahless"; DIS: "The War Without, The War Within")
When Worf was young, he ran away to the Caves of No'Mat and had a vision of Kahless, and was told that he'd do something no other Klingon had ever done. Years later, when "Kahless" returned on Boreth, Worf was convinced that he was the real Kahless when he narrated his appearance and words he had said to the young Worf.
The Lake of Lusor was a lake located in the northern hemisphere of Qo'noS, the Klingon homeworld, near the Kri'stak volcano.
According to Klingon religion, after plunging a lock of his hair into a river of lava from the volcano's summit, Kahless the Unforgettable forged the Sword of Kahless, the first bat'leth, by cooling and twisting the sword in the Lake of Lusor.
The River Skral was a river located in the northern hemisphere of the planet Qo'noS. (DIS: "The War Without, The War Within") In Klingon mythology, it ran red when Kahless slew Molor. (VOY: "Barge of the Dead")
In the century preceding 2257, the Skral had flooded one of the seven chimneys leading to the underground volcano system of Qo'noS. (DIS: "Will You Take My Hand?")
The Skral was mentioned in a Klingon drinking song, in the line "Ejdahk-so- TAS ghos va Skral byteek" ("and the River Skral ran crimson red"). The song was sung by Worf and Huraga during a visit by the latter over many bottles consumed of bloodwine.
