StarFEET Academy and Team Building!

Captain Joe Dove's Log

Stardate -296934.83

In the latest adventure of the young cadets who are eager to regrow starfleet. The War Academy has initiated high-jinx against the Cadets. This episode reminded me of the kind of human humor from classic 90s shows. The constant 1-up on the other. Though no major developments were made there was team building and that is paramount of ascending leadership youth.

The pranks may not seem as clear as to what we know here, in the 21st century, but the transporting the cadets away whilst preparing for the day is humorous. the team then plans a revenge set up in the editing style of oceans 11. Its quarky its cute, and the timing works. When you watch modern Trek the one thing that fits best: The Pacing. There are never moments that are overthought and is fits in with the TIKTIK instant satisfaction generation.

Though I wont be diving into every second of the eposide shot by shot, its enough to say i did have fun. Its season one and I dont expect the world changing story beats that I have come to know in 7 seasons of other trek. I wish beyond anything that these seasons were longer so we can get episodes like this and still flesh out characters and their connections, without feeling like we need the big developed over arch to follow through the season. I need at least 5 more eps a season. We have a mix of established characters and actors, with fresh new faces that need time to shine. With this young and prosperous cast its being underserved with only 10 episodes and 2 drop on the same day.

The main focus of the episode is really team building and that doesn't mean just working cohesively as a unit. Its about listening to someone else's ideas as theirs may guide you through.

The other thing, the sound of deFEET ! If you have watched out show and decided to come and hear more of what I have to say I appreciate you greatly.

Ultimately the War cadets and the Academy cadets face off in a game of "Calica tournament" a sports game I had to look up {thanks Jammer Reviews} because it really escaped my mind and I couldn't go back whilst finishing my Saturday work video edits. Well long story short its capture the flag or kill the carrier in this case as they use mascots to "shoot" in order to win the game. It was a nice call back to the Mugato, which was fun to see,

Well as this game progressess when your out you get personal transported back to the side lines. In star Trek Beyond and in Star Trek Insurrection they used the personal transporters to capture civilians. It only makes sense that 900 or so years later its used for sports games. My cohosts dont agree but look back on the development of tech we have now. ET used a phone to call home earth, now we can use our phone with out a cord. Thats only 30 years ago. Now advance what we can do in hundreds of years.

I am not a big sports person, I am however, a star trek person and I did have fun with this episode. Sure I wanted more catch up with Tilly and another look into Paul's "Nus Braka" . More of the Doctor, and so on but the building relationships between the characters and their working fashions was a nice moment in their development. I am seeing a lot of Harry Potter esq with the Captain being the Dumbledore arch setting the wheels of events which took place in this episode. It's fun. Cheesy, and a nice break from some of the bleakness in our world today.
